How we get our data
ContractorSG is a free directory compiled from public information. We don't endorse, rank-by-quality or guarantee any contractor. This page says what each thing on a profile means, where it comes from and what it does not mean.
1. Listings and HDB registration (DRC)
We hold 2,618 listings. To show registration status we compare each listing's HDB Directory of Renovation Contractors (DRC) number with a snapshot of HDB's open dataset on data.gov.sg, as of 11 Oct 2026. A profile shows HDB-registered (DRC) only when the number is on that list and the company name matches. Today that is 2,304 of 2,618 listings. If a number is on file but not on the list, or sits under a different company name, we say so and don't show the badge.
Registration can lapse after our snapshot date. Always check the contractor with HDB before hiring. DRC registration is not a measure of workmanship.
2. Reviews and Google Maps
About 2,220 listings were matched to a Google Business Profile. We store only the Google Place ID and use it to link to the business on Google Maps. We do not store, copy or display Google ratings or review text, and we don't calculate our own star scores. Read the reviews on Google Maps and judge for yourself. A Google Business match label means the listing was matched to a Google profile; it is not a licence, identity or quality check.
Where a profile shows a review from ContractorSG itself it says so. Most profiles have none yet.
3. Cost figures in our guides are estimates
Prices and ranges in our guides are editorial estimates for planning, assembled from the public sources listed at the end of each guide (government pages and published renovation cost surveys). They are not quotes, not averages from our own jobs and not a promise of what a contractor will charge. Each guide shows an "updated" date; costs change, so get at least three written quotes.
4. Owner-verified listings
Business owners can claim a listing. We review the claim by hand (company UEN, work email, contact details). Only after we approve it does the profile show an Owner-verified badge. It means someone from the business has proved they manage the listing. It does not mean ContractorSG has checked licences, insurance, quality or pricing.
5. How listings are updated
- The HDB DRC snapshot is refreshed manually from data.gov.sg; the as-of date is shown above and on profiles.
- Contact details come from public business information and owner submissions; we don't re-verify them continuously.
- "Featured" marks placement chosen by us and is not a quality endorsement.
- We don't publish contractor ratings, response-time promises or "best contractor" rankings we can't back with data.
6. Spotted a mistake?
Email info@contractorsg.com with the profile URL and what is wrong, or use the contact form. Business owners can also use "Claim this listing" on their profile to manage and correct it. We fix verified errors and remove listings on request from the business.
